The Sweet Swap is a wonderful idea, it really is. Food bloggers from around the country donate a small fee to charity and in return receive the names and addresses of three of those bloggers. They then send out a sweet gift before receiving three in return from all around the country.
It’s wonderful. You meet bloggers you may not have heard of and the treats! Oh my, what a wonderful, incredible array of treats.
I sent off a package of Salted Caramel Hearts and some dark Choc-Chilli ‘Bombs’ (the recipe for that will be posted later in the year for your Christmas baking) to three wonderful people:
- Dolly from Cup Cakie Dolly
- Bri from Eat Meets West
- April from What Can I Bake
In return I received the following:
A trio of wonderful chocolate truffles from Melbourne-based Dani at Eat My Street. They were wonderful Dani, and it was so hard to pick a favourite.
Some truly over-the-top chocolate salted caramel popcorn brownies from Love Swah. These were divine, dark, rich, chewy, crunchy, the perfect afternoon tea.
Some maplecomb from Amanda at Chew Town. Made with maple syrup, this ‘honeycomb’ was not as sickly sweet as regular honey comb and that just made it about perfect for my taste buds. I will admit to hoarding some for later. It’s that good.
And finally …
Some incredible pistachio and rosewater meringues from Gabby at Baking With Gab. These were incredible, not just because they arrived without too much breakage but because they were so delicately flavoured, so ethereal. I dream of making meringues like these.
Yes, I got four packages and I sincerely hope that this error did not mean that one person received less. Because if they did, I may have eaten their share. But I can send more salted caramels if need be!
These wonderful recipes are available on the sites I’ve linked to and I suggest you also head to The Sweet Swap over the next few days as more than 30 participating bloggers link up to their recipes. I promise you will find something to inspire and delight you. It’s also a great page to bookmark for Christmas gift projects.
